Kayaking the Ottawa River

RallyCrew’s Paddling Passport Speaker Series

The Ottawa River is one of North America’s most iconic whitewater playgrounds—big, warm, and playful. From powerful spring flows to mellow summer levels, it offers a rare mix of volume, accessibility, and progression that draws everyone from first-time river runners to world-class freestyle athletes.

Stretching through a landscape of granite shoreline, sandy beaches, and forested valleys, the Ottawa is as much a community as it is a river. With multiple channels, famous surf waves, and a deep paddling culture, it’s a place where learning, playing, and pushing your limits often happen side by side.

In this Paddling Passport session, RallyCrew connects with longtime local paddler Casey Bryant Jones, Paddle School Director at Ottawa Kayak School, to share practical beta on when to go, where to paddle, and how to make the most of a trip to the Ottawa River. Whether you’re planning your first visit or refining your approach to big water, this session brings the river’s personality and logistics straight to you.
